Peter, great to hear that you had a great trip :-)
I hope you'll post a write-up from your trip somewhere. If you do, please let me know so I can post a link to your story from mc-addict.com. If you wish, you're of course welcome to post your story on these pages too.

I'm back! What a great trip. We found the roads from Oslo to arctic circle on E6 not that interesting until you're passed Mo-i-Rana. The E6 is a pretty major road so understandable. Really enjoyed the west part of Norway where we went on more minor roads and saw the fjords and mountains.

Regarding my mobile phone question - I can now tell you that 3 PAYG does not work in Norway. I suspect no PAYG phone from the UK would as they require ID to get a PAYG SIM - as I found out. I got a Telenor PAYG for 150NOK. 5NOK per Mb but after 2Mb you don't pay for the rest of the day so quite good. Almost reached the 200Mb limit for the month (I did share my connection with my friends iPad) After 200Mb they slow your connection speed down.

We've started putting our photos up -

The prettier ones are not uploaded yet but might be by the time you see this message.

Cheers.

Peter.

Hi,

Only a week to go and I thought of a fairly obscure question! Can I get a "pay as you go" SIM for my mobile that has reasonable data charges/allowance? Could be handy to use google maps on my phone. I used it in Amsterdam recently and managed to spend £5 in one day which was a bit much I thought. (£1.25 per Mb).

If anyone visits the UK, I'd recommend www.three.co.uk as you get 150Mb free data when you top up - so something like that would last me the entire holiday. Three are the only company that does that so I think I'd be lucky to find something like that in Norway.

Though I guess I'l be travelling most of the day so might not have chance to buy a SIM.

Cheers.

Peter.

I have been told that motorbikes cannot use the extremly long tunnel on the E16 between Tonjum to Flam. Do you know if this is correct?
I plan to use the 243 mountain road but consider the tunnel an option if the weather is bad.

I suppose you're referring to the Lærdal tunnel along the E16, which is the World's longest tunnel at 24.5 kilometres from Aurland to Lærdal? I've ridden it dozens of times - no worries at all. I don't know of any tunnel in Norway that are off bounds for motorbikes, and I've ridden through a few of them.

Your day is coming!

The 17th of May and it's glorious celebration in Stoughton Whiskysconsin. Encourage me to take photos and videos to share here. We had a grand time last year telling the Norgies in Stoughton about my friends on MC Addict, they all approved and some had tales to tell.
