The dogs are out. Knut showed me how to take apart the gearbox. Actually he did the whole job...
Racing tech Knut Holte at his work bench.
It took racing tech Knut only a couple of hours to dismantle the SP 1000 gear box and take out the gears that are about to be de-dogged. In that time he even mangaged to pick up his kid from his dancing class.
Knut has taken out the gears and other stuff that has dogs on them from the gear box. Each of these has six dogs, three short ones and three long ones. The idea is to grind down the short ones thus making gear change slicker. So the stuff is now sent to mech wizard Eskil Tin for grinding. I've ordered a couple of new gaskets and other small stuff to the gear box. Knut recons we'll be able to have it up and running as soon as next week.
How's that for bringing out the dogs?
These are the dogs. On the gears you can see the six dogs. Three of them will be ground down on each of these gears. It'll make the whole difference, they say.
