Minutes of a Motorcycle Addict

Poor road maintenance led to the death of a motorcyclist in Norway in the summer of 2008. Now his family in what has been dubbed The Gjerdrum Case has taken the road owner Akershus county and its subcontractor to court.

Agder Appeal Court has today convicted the female car driver who ran down and injured a young motorcyclist in Tønsberg, Norway, to jail and loss of drivers license. The verdict is a strong signal to all car drivers to be vigilant about motorcyclists.

Norwegian riders have fought and recently gained political acceptance for a more fair duty scheme on bikes - a CO2-based system - considerably reducing bike prices. But the motorcycle makers refuse to state CO2 emission figures on their bikes, thus blocking riders from having this considerable duty reduction on new bikes.
